    A National Treasure
    & London Icon

St Paul’s Cathedral is one of London’s most iconic and recognisable buildings. Rebuilt between 1675 and 1710, following damage to the old cathedral in the Great Fire of London, it has dominated London’s skyline for over 300 years. Its combination of neoclassical, gothic and baroque-influenced architecture draws hundreds of thousands of tourists from all corners of the globe every year.

    The Challenge

For this project, Chris Lewis Group was commissioned to design and install a reliable meeting conferencing solution to ease the impact of remote working. We were then re-commissioned to help the cathedral's IT team to design a system for browsing their "Remember Me" database, an online resource that commemorates those who were lost in the Covid-19 pandemic. The system had to be easy-to-use and accessible for public use, while also being secure.

The Chris Lewis Group designed, supplied, installed and commissioned a sophisticated visual solution for displaying the cathedral’s ‘Remember Me’ database in the Middlesex Chapel. We worked closely with the Cathedral’s IT team to complete the installation. The machines were pre-commissioned in our offices and delivered by our team to minimise the chance of physical damage during transit.

Using four pedestal-mounted touch screens, we created a comprehensive and user-friendly visual kiosk-style solution that displayed the ‘Remember Me’ database clearly and coherently. This was achieved by equipping slide-in OPS PC modules into each touchscreen, allowing the whole database to be viewed and interacted with by members of the public and the cathedral’s internal team.

The kiosk software also added an extra layer of security to the system to prevent users accessing prohibited content or databases. This makes it impossible to navigate away from the ‘Remember Me’ database or access to the PC itself, without the necessary passwords.

Working alongside the cathedral’s IT team, Chris Lewis Group were able to design and install a safe, secure and long-term solution for St Paul’s Cathedral that was delivered on-time and within budget.

    A very happy client

"We found the entire process, from original discussion to quotation, planning and implementation to be easy. The whole team were very professional, and went out of their way when there was a problem. The issue was resolved in a way that made it look like there were no issues, and that is what we were looking for in a supplier and partner."
